As we bring 5776 to a close and look ahead to the High Holidays and the new year, I would like to thank you for your enthusiastic support of Temple Kol Tikvah over the last year and since you began your journey with the TKT community. Because of your prior year donations, we were able to improve on the spiritual, educational, experiential and supportive qualities that Temple Kol Tikvah offers our congregants.
We are now entering the fourth year for our High Holiday appeal and would like to ask again for your participation. This is the first year that we are setting a target. Our target is $30,000. If we don’t achieve our target, we will operate at a deficit for the first time in our history. Over the last couple of years, our temple has experienced flat membership levels coupled with increased operating costs driving the deficit. Your contributions are necessary to sustain all that we’ve accomplished since our inception. Our programs enable us to build and deepen relationships. In order to connect with more people both within our congregation and the broader Jewish community, we must continue to strive to improve our existing programming and add additional programs. These are goals that cannot be funded by dues alone. In order to make up our $30,000 gap, each family would need to contribute an additional $140 in dues.
I ask you to look into your hearts and show your support for our Temple. Every gift, no matter the size, shows that Temple Kol Tikvah contributes and impacts your daily lives. It will take a 100% commitment from you, our members, in order to continue with our programs that benefit our entire congregation.
In the words of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, "Do as much as you can and then just a little more than you can.”
I, along with the board of directors and our employees, hope that the new year is filled with health and happiness for you and your family.
